The beautiful town of Eureka is located just 5 minutes south of the Canadian Port of Entry at Roosville and approximately one hour north of Glacier International Airport in Kalispell. Eureka offers many fine art galleries and gift shops, cafes and restaurants, a theater and access to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. The town is situated in the "Tobacco Valley" so named for the abundant tobacco that was once grown in this area by Native Americans. The beautiful Tobacco River runs through the south side of town, bordered by the Historical Village and the start of the downtown shopping area.
Surrounded by pristine lakes and acres of State and Forest Service land, Eureka enjoys an abundance of outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, swimming, water skiing, cross country skiing, snow mobiling, sledding, ice skating and hunting. The town is conveniently located within a 45-minute drive of both the Whitefish Mountain Resort at Big Mountain in Whitefish, Montana and the Fernie Alpine Resort, in Fernie, British Columbia.
Hunting, trapping, logging and fur trading all figure into Eureka's colorful past. A traditional "Rendezvous" and parade are still celebrated every April. Rendezvous is Eureka's don't miss event, which heralds the coming of spring and draws people from all over. The local Sunburst Foundation works hard to bring an impressive calendar of performing arts and fantastic yearly events to the community such as the Amish Auction, the Tobacco Valley Rodeo, the infamous Bull Thing, the Lincoln County Fair, the Eureka Montana Quilt Show and SalmonFest.
