Location: State Highway 503; 30 miles northeast of Woodland. Population approximately 100. Visitor Information Center located south of town on Highway 503.

 

Cougar is located at the south entrance to Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, making it the perfect jumping off place for hikers. The location also provides excellent access to Windy Ridge, Spirit Lake and the Ape Cave, a 2 1/4 mile cave formed in the lava flow. Accommodations for the outdoor enthusiast include tent camping at Cougar Park and RV facilities at Beaver Bay. Fishing for salmon and trout is excellent throughout the area.
