Queen Charlotte Islands BC

Moody, mystical and magical, the Queen Charlottes are called Haida Gwaii, or 'islands of the people' by the Haida natives of these secluded lands. Referred to as Canada's Galapagos, they harbor an extensive population of animals and plants not found anywhere else on earth. They lie covered in extensive wetlands, virgin rainforests, mountain ranges, beaches, dunes, lakes and streams hosting an abundance of wildlife.

Consisting of two main islands stretching over a distance of 300 kilometers (180 miles), Haida Gwaii is located 100 kilometers (60 miles) across Hecate Strait from the northwest coast of BC. Graham Island in the north is separated from Moresby Island to the south by Skidegate Channel and separated from the mainland by Hecate Strait. There are six communities to visit on the islands, given the majesty of the scenery and the warmth of the 5000 folks living there, you will want to experience each one of them.
