Located on the eastern shores of Windermere Lake, this charming town is fast becoming a favorite spot for boardsailing, hang-gliding and golf. A leisurely walk from the center of town, Windermere Beach has playground and picnic areas and shady maple trees. Located just north of Windermere, the broad sandy beach at James Chabot Provincial Park has a boat launch and offers visitors a pleasant, landscaped environment, great swimming, fabulous windsurfing, sailing and fishing. Windermere abounds with artists who are happy to demonstrate their talents: watch wood carvers, ceramicists or glass blowers in action.
The town is steeped in a rich history; the valley’s first commercial buildings were constructed here as early as 1883 and some are still standing. Visitors will find several full facility campgrounds, RV Parks and motels in the Windermere area.
